Why journalism?

I'm a journalist because I love finding the turning point.

Who am I?

My name is Justice Covert. I'm a journalism student at the University of Central Florida and intend to graduate in December 2025. I love storytelling and am eager to explore any opportunity to grow as a writer, editor, and producer. I love finding the turning point, whether on the field in a game or in a community.

As a student reporter, I covered student government and UCF softball as beats while serving in numerous leadership positions. I led Centric, a student-run magazine, as editor in chief and produced Knight Time, a student-run college sports talk show.

This past summer, I interned with WKMG News 6 in Orlando. I wrote over 90 stories for ClickOrlando.com as a member of the digital team.

In my last semester at UCF, I served as the editor in chief for the student-run news publication, The Charge. My responsibilities included running editors/reporters meetings, writing SEO-friendly headlines, publishing stories and managing The Charge’s Instagram.

I pride myself on being dependable, a fast learner, and set on succeeding in any environment in which I'm placed.
